Language exams

During the integration exam, DUO checks if you know enough about the Netherlands. And if your Dutch is good enough.

There are language exams at different language proficiency levels Link opent externe pagina : A1, B1, and B2. The Nt2 State exam (Dutch as a second language) has a language exam at level B1 (Programme I) or level B2 (Programme II). There are also knowledge exams. Check Mijn Inburgering to see which exams you need to take. These are the language exams:

Speaking

The Speaking exam at level A2 you take on a computer. You will need to speak and understand Dutch. You will watch short films and answer questions. The exam lasts 35 minutes.

Listening

The Listening exam at level A2 you take on a computer. You will answer questions about short films and you listen to texts. The exam lasts 45 minutes.

Reading

The Reading exam at level A2 you take on a computer. You will read texts and also answer questions. The exam lasts 65 minutes.

Writing

The Writing exam at level A2 you take with pen and paper. You will be given 4 assignments. This can involve writing a short letter, for instance, or filling out a form. The exam lasts 40 minutes.
